"Petula Clark got in Lynn's head and she went Downtown, where the lights are much brighter there. So now is evfurry one got this tune spinning in their head? She's done it agin."
"She says she gonna go to the bank, the post office,
the library and such. Our little city has not much else."
I thought I'd share a tour of our city. This is the courthouse as we are
the county capital. I was called to jury duty but not chosen once. The
inside is incredible but no one is allowed in without an appointment.
The top of the cupola from the massive 4 sided clock up was just
replaced. It took 2 years to rebuild and have a new clock.
One of our several elaborate churches.
This is the Masonic Hall and it sits on the east side of
our square.
The flower shop always decorates the deep entryway in.
Not a lot of shops in town. The book store and the bike shop are in the building on
the left. The other side of the street has a couple restaurants and small stores.
Most multi story buildings have been renovated and taken over
by the 3 colleges in our city and the community hospital.
The good thing is these buildings are not just sitting empty forever.
These two are connected. The peach color building is a fun gift shop of
knick knacks. The other building has seen many stores come and go. On
the north side of the square are a couple small shops.
Nice place to take a walk when it is too cold or windy to beoutside for long.
with lots of parking. There is a small tiered fountain and
a Memory Wall for fallen veterans.
"And Lynn made it home in time fur me to have my
brunch and Greenies. And she quit humming thank goodness."
Thank you for stopping by for a visit and a comment.
It is much appreciated.

Those are all lovely buildings, and the courthouse is very impressive. There is a university in our city and a lot of the buildings have also been converted into student accommodation along with a lot of new builds too.
You look very comfortable, Precious, and a bit annoyed that Lynn left you!

Precious, those are great pics of you!
I enjoyed the tour, it's always fun to see where people and their fur babies live. I especially like the peach shop, very charming.
Here, a lot of the older buildings have been demolished in favour of condos and apartments (in mid and downtown), for private student housing. Mid-town definitely has needed to be cleaned up for a long time, but I feel our downtown has lost the charm it had when I first was here. I hope that doesn't happen in your area!
Very pretty small town ~ satisfy our curiosity ~ what is your population when you say "small" town? We do so appreciate those communities that SAVE the older, more historic buildings, renovate/restore them if need be ... they are far better and more attractive than the newer cold/bland structures often built today.
That was a nice tour around your city - thank you. It's good that the buildings are used and don't stay empty.
Precious how very kind of you to give Lynn prior approval to go
"Downtown"...now I have Petula Clark singing in my head and that is A OK I loved that song. This was a wonderful outing for Lynn whom I know was happy to be out and about after the dreary and cold start of 2025. I have a thing for church steeples
You dear one look as lovely as always
Hugs Cecilia
That sure is a pretty downtown area and everything looks so nice and clean too!
What a very nice looking town you have. I think the msltiple-storeyed buildings add to the character of the place, and church looks like it could have come from an old European city. And yes, I have Petula Clark in my head now, too.

Hi handsome boy.
I really liked seeing your town.
As soon as I saw your blog post title that song started in my head Lynn - an oldie but a goodie. Your town looks very beautiful to me - those old buildings are stunning. Such history & wonderful that they are not just all sitting empty. Love the church. It looked to be a nice blue sky day for your outing - everything looks very green & wonderful.
I am off outside soon to rake leaves & put back on the garden. Pippi has told me she will "supervise me" from the deck. That is a lovely photo of Precious on her chair - waiting for Mums return. Have a great weekend both of you. x0x0x
Cute town! I love the peach building.
Thank you for the tour. You live in a pretty town. Brody says he wants to see more photos of you. XO
So much cute in your town; thanks for sharing it.
I loved Petula Clark in the film, "Goodbye, Mr. Chips" with Peter O'Toole.
What a lovely town! it doesn't have to be big and crowded to be special. Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday and I'm glad you got your brunch and Greenies.
Charlee: "Precious, our Dada says your architecture there reminds him of the buildings back East in New York where he grew up! Lots and lots of brick!"
Thank you for showing us around your home town, Precious. Many towns and cities now have gone the way of yours regarding student buildings. But better that than falling empty and derelict.
And thank goodness the tour stopped just in time for your brunch!
Stay well and happy
ERin
Many thanks for the guided tour, Precious! It was fun discovering your town!
Of course, none of it is a pretty as you! Oh, and that Petula Clark song is so very nostalgic, says #1.

What a lovely looking place you guys live in! Much bigger than our teeny village. We always LOVE to see where our furrends live. Our Mom (finally), got the weeds out of the front flower bed and planted some petunias. We are NOT having a vegetable garden this summer. Mom planted a zucchini, that she bought with the petunias, in the raised bed. It looks kind of lonely right now, but last summer the zucchini took over half the garden...she hopes that this one will hide some of the weeds. Keep being awesome! I LOVE seeing the town. Each time you have shown us a city or, it has always been very enjoyable. Anywhere you have shown us. I remember one place a few years ago that was filled with buildings that had murals. And they were GOOD too. I loved the peach building but I also loved the building next door! Those two windows are fabulous! Precious, your Onsie looks fresh and comfy.
Firstly, yep- that got dad humming. Secondly, the colorful bursts here and there downtown are so lively. Nowadays, it's not unusual to see many downtown buildings dark, empty and closed up. Lastly, I often hear mom and dad bitching about New Hope's downtown, especially in nice weather and extra especially on weekends. They prefer to avoid the tiny, overcrowded, parking-deficient main drag.
Hey just a heads up, you won my giveaway and I sent you an email. Please respond within 24 hours or I'll have to pick a new winner.
What a lovely place to live! I think I would head over to the bookstore first :) Precious looks amazing in her photos!
You live in a beautiful area! Precious, Mom says she wants bury her face in you luxurious fur❣️
