after the hatch

"I thought I'd tell you all you'll evfur wanna know 'bout growing

Cat Pillars.  And then you'll just leave 'em be where you sees 'em."

"Sometimes we had so many at one time
Lynn had ta put in a shelf to separate them
furom crawlin' on each other."

"And you kin see furom the dirty towel in the
bottom that they poop a lot and leave a stain."

"And she found so many Cat Pillars on her only
3 milkweed plants that she had to put them into
buckets with net tops to spread them thinner.
As you kin see in the top photos, she ended up
with TWO net cages.  The green one and the
new blue.  She ordered a third one furom the stinkin'
Amazons who sent it FOUR WEEKS  after they took
da moneys.  Too late to use."

"She hadda use a fishing tackle box with  lid to put the eggs in
and keep the tiny hatchlings separated. Ya know what, these
Cat Pillars will eat each other if some are tiny and the others
are big.  They nevfur evfur stop chewing.  Now me,  I stop
fur drinks, catio and naps."

First Eggs June 26

Last Butterfly Flew Sept. 26

Catepillar count: 219

Butterfly count: 168

Parasited count: 51

"And Lynn accidently brought home
about 2 dozen pillars or eggs and had
to raise them too.  They are included in the
count. The milkweed kept
getting mowed down by the road keepers
so it got furry furustrating."

"I am the only cat she needs to feed.  But
she has one only, Blackswallow Tail Butterfly
chrysalis hibernating fur the winter."

"Lynn put the orange tree up in October.
But the orange glitter acorns don't show up
in this photo.  Don't think the squirrels
will come in to eat them."

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and a comment.
It is much appreciated.

That's amazing Precious...I think Mum
has done a fantastic job with the catepillar's,
and so many of them, and they certainly
look lovely when their developed of course...!

Nice and early over here, and the suns out...I'm
off to catch a bus in an hour, popping down to
the coast, to a bigger town called Poole, look
round, bit of shopping, and coffee of course...
Be back home just after lunch...! :).

I think your orange tree looks nice to...I'm sure
if the squirrels were to see it, they'd be 'delighted'..

Precious, Lynn needs a big pat on the back for all her hard work looking after the caterpillars. You deserve a good stroking too, because you left the caterpillars and butterflies alone to live their lives.

I echo the others, Lynn deserves kudos for that!

Your orange tree is very pretty, makes the evenings cosier, I imagine! Soon it will be time for the red and green decorations. 🙃

Have a lovely day and weekend!

I find the photos very interesting. I've never heard of anybody doing that. I would think it's too messy ... but I like to see the photos of you doing it !!😁😁

My goodness me - what a lot of work Mum went to dear Precious. I felt tired just reading all of this.
I have taken the shelter off my swan plant in the garden & it is looking healthy. I am thinking maybe I need to invest in a cage like Mum did. I'm not sure where I would get one around here so I need to make some inquiries.
That is SO many butterflies hatched - well done to Mum for all her hard work. I am glad you were a good "supervisor" Precious. Mums tree looks wonderful - the orange would have been perfect for Halloween. Have a great weekend - sunny here - off out to the garden - never ending!! 😉xox

Hi Precious, how are you and Lynn doing? I've been away for a long time, but I'm back for November (hopefully longer). I love all your butterflies, that's very cool!
