Restin' my brain

"I am goin' to take a nap. Unusual fur me, you say, as I dictate and Lynn uses the thumbs fur typing.  I will let her show off some photos fur-om her biking lately."

Hi everyone.  I have had a few rides each week between
rain storms and high wind.  The picture above is so beautiful
looking, however it is the evil dreaded multiflora rose that
was introduced into Ohio by Louis Bromfield.  He
brought it over from Europe after WW I when he started
his farm Malabar in Ohio in the 1930's.
He was an author and a screen writer in the 30's and 40's.
Lauren Bacall and Humphery Bogart were married
at the farm.  Which is now a state park.

He was the first to introduce terrace farming and used the
rose for fencing.  It is now so wide spread it is unreal.

The female snapping turtle had traveled no less than
200 yards from the creek bed to try to find a place in
the bike path berm to lay her eggs.  She was here on
May 20.  I have never seen them out laying so early.
I usually see them in June.

The two above are of Giant Angelica.  I love these plants.
They grow to 6 feet tall, the flowers are the size of
cauliflower heads and the leaves are just gigantic.
They only bloom for a few days as so many of the native
plants in the Spring.

I have no idea what this fungi is except beautiful
I found it May 1 when I had my first long bike ride.
I have never seen one like this before.  What color.

"I didn't want to leave y'all without showing myself
just a bit.  I am sleeping in the living area on our chair
this afternoon. See my water glass and my brush
near by?  Gotta have my essentials."

Precious and I thank for your help and interest in
allergy relief for Precious.  If she eats the Greenies
Chicken pill pocket, broken in 1/2, and then 1/2
again with 1/8 piece of pill in each, then her
itching stops for 24 hours.  But some days she
just knows the bitter taste is in the middle and will not eat.
I have gotten her to eat out of my hand a few times.

"I had Lynn add the popup comment window, and
hope that makes it easier if you wish to purr to us.
If it interfurrs with anythin' make sure you purr it
to us."

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and a comment.
It is much appreciated.

No! I don't like the pop~up windows for comment...
It's in the way, if you want to refer back to
your post...and if you want to take a look at
another post, it's 'ALL' over the place..! :(.
Comments belong at the bottom of a post, following
that said post...Job done...! :0).

Anyways, the plants, and flowers look lovely,
growing outside in the ground, where all plants
belong, and not cut, placed in a silly vase, on
a window~sill..As Monty Don, always says, if you
cut or pick a flower, you cut it's life in half...!

Well, best get on, off out the front, lot's of
tidying up to do, and the Virginia Creeper needs
seeing to...! :).

Sorry, unable to put Imoji's icons at the bottom,
not with this type of pop~up comments anyway..! :(.

I love all your pics, especially of the fungi (how neat!) and of course Precious!

There seem to be a lot of invasive flora here too, plants brought over intentionally or not, that now cause so many problems.

Oh, I hope the turtle eggs will be safe. Poachers dig them up here, it's a real problem in our area.

Regarding the allergies, do you know what Precious is allergic to? You might have posted that and I just don't remember. I'm wondering if there's anything homeopathic or naturopathic that would help. I used to buy Derry's Uri-Free online from PetAlive in the US, and it was a godsend. I did buy a few other products from them as well, with limited success, probably because I wasn't consistent in giving them.

Anyway, enjoy the bike rides! Precious, enjoy your catio as much as possible!

That yellow fungus was amazing. We hate it when our treats have "pits" in them.

Such sights to see while biking. I especially liked the turtle. Hopefully, all her young ones survive and thrive.

Ah, Precious, I hope you enjoyed resting your brain as much as Lynn enjoyed her bike ride. Whoever thought that roses could become a pest?

Great photos. My hubby is really into mushrooms, so I asked him and those are oyster mushrooms- safe to eat and tasty. Bordy and I love the photos of sweet Precious. XO

You see so many different things on your rides! The flowers you call Giant Angelica look very much like hogweed. We have to be very careful around it as the sap can cause burns to the skin.
You are looking relaxed and lovely, Precious.

Oh yes - multiflora rose. Beautiful, fragrant. The only thing, besides cockroaches, that will survive a nuclear holocaust. Find a farmer in their 80's and mention r.mutiflora to them and you will be treated to a vocabulary lesson, to say the least. When we bought the property, there was a multiflora rosebush at the end of the driveway. We cut it down, burned the cuttings, upended the burner barrel of hot ash over the stumps. In two weeks it had sprouted right back up. They spread by sending out roots. They produce seeds. They "cane", where the ends of the branches bend over to touch the ground and put down roots there. They were, indeed, wonderful fencing...til they took over the pasture, a solid mass of intertwined spiky branches from fence line to ditch.

Hello Lynn & Precious ... lovely to see you basking on your chair with all your essentials at the ready sweet Precious. The photos of your plant life are fascinating Lynn. You have such different flora & fauna to us over here. I am not familiar with that rose - we just call them wild roses overhere. Fancy it being used as fencing. I'll bet it soon got out of control. Wishing you both a wonderful weekend. x0x

That looks like a beautiful place. #1 says she's not at all familiar with that part of Ohio. Several of her aunts lived in Ohio, but east of Cleveland.

Precious, what a lovely restful picture of you on the comfy armchair. You are quite right about the impawtance of keeping the Essentials close at hand.
What purrty pictures Lynn took on her bike rides.

I WONDERED what those flowers were!!! I even blogged about them in my own blog, not Katies, several years ago asking if anyone knew what they were! THAT is what they were. They were a lovely perfumed mass alongside the park path I took. The city finally dug them out which I was sorry for as I didn't understand what they were.

Lynn, I love your biking pictures always! So glad you post them. Precioous, of COURSE you have to keep the essentials right at hand!!! Leg time isn't just for your Mom!!!

That is one special ride you had. So many different things to see each time. And it is always a delight to see sweet Precious. Paws crossed, you can determine exactly and treat those allergies. Till then, it sounds like you have reached a sort of tolerable and workable level. Do cats tolerate human antihistamines?
Purrs to you all

Wow, it seems your bike path has not only a plethora of fauna and flora, but some historical context as well! I think all of the plants and the early turtle egg-laying are due to the warmer weather. Climate change at work.

It's lovely to see Precious all comfy and cozy on the couch, and getting ready for a restorative nap. You go, girl!

Chaplin: "But I've seen you just gobble the canned food down with the pills in it."
Java Bean: "Well duh. It's canned food."
Chaplin: "You are such a dog."

Those are beautiful flowers and plants you see on your rides. Even the dreaded ones are at least pretty.

I'm not sure how to deal with the pill situatin, although I did once coat the pill pocket itself with butter to help it slip down more easily. That was a one time medication, however, not sure what it would do for long term.

Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday!

Hi Precious! (Jo Jo and Marv wave wildly) We have NO preference on commenting. We are just happy that Mom is helping us! We LOVE the bike ride photos! You guys have such interesting things to see. Your flora and fauna is a little different than ours. We are on the top edge of the Great American Desert so we have cacti in some places (and rattle snakes). And we too have some invasive species, right now the worst one is Hoary Alyssum (yep the stuff that everyone used to see in hanging baskets) and grey squirrels! It is like they have both magically appeared EVERYWHERE in the last 2 years! We used to have one of those rose bushes in the front yard. It took 3 years to eradicate it! And Precious, we LOVE the photos of you! Mom says that in taking pills, perseverance is the key. Mr Kozmo HATED taking his meds, but Mom kept telling him how they made him feel better and he would get extra treats after taking them and now he seldom spits them out. Thanks for stopping by and keep being awesome! Purrs Marvelous Marv and your gal pal Jo Jo

Precious please tell Mom the Pelican photo was taken by a friend of mine on her walk in Utah. I was surprised to see pelicans in UTAH. They evidently were taking a rest stop

Just look at all those beautiful flowers and amazing turtle your Mom photographed! Look what you are missing, Precious, while you have a nap. Well, sweet dreams then, dear.

I have a question for your Mom. I made one of my memes up for Precious, and thought you might like to see it. I could email it to you if you have a secondary email or you could write to me at wendy.gilmore1769@gmail.com and I could reply.

Cheers!
