Nutty Squirrels

"Lynn, what are those crazy skweerls doin' in my catio! I must git

out there and defend my property!"

Back in late February we realized that there was a
nursing female gray squirrel trying to supplement her
food intake with any and all dropped bird food.
We soon realize what tree she was nesting inside of
and watched for her all the time.

She ended up with 3 babies that now have learned
that bird food found is easy pickin's.

Precious was sound asleep about 6 PM in her usual
state of the evening.  All of a sudden we both heard
this clawing on the patio door glass and other odd
noise.  The vertical blind was closed already as she
and I were spending a long weekend alone and I have
to get the house closed up before we sit together.
This 15 pound girl with all her sharp claws launched off
my lap and flew to the back door.  I ran with her
and we managed to open the blinds just in time to see
one of the baby squirrels run up and down the screen door.
Then it ran around all the patio flower pots trying to figure
out how to escape.  It finally found the place where it's
head would fit under the wood fence frame and ran like
it's tail was on fire.
I scooped Precious up and we got back in our usual
position until 8:30 PM

"I will have no introoders in my catio.  It's bad enough
when those deer hang their heads over the fence."

One of my 3 astilbe.  I have an all pink perennial flower bed
for Angel Seney, and things come on one at a time.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and a comment.
It is much appreciated.

ooooO! All started off as a bit of a mystery,
just like John's story, this morning, though
his is still a mystery...

Don't think you'll have much luck catching a
squirrel, Precious, there a bit to fast and
quick, though if you leave your door open, one
might pop in a rummage...HeHe! :).

And the pink flowers at the bottom there are
lovely, well, they are pink, are'nt they...!
Lovely and full of colour...! :O).

Precious is a good house cat, though reactions like hers can cause consternation when you're alone in the house.
I love your Astilbe - what a gorgeous pink.

Precious, that was quite the adventure you and Lynn had. Silly squirrel. They're cute, but maybe not the sharpest tools in the shed. πŸ˜†

The flowers are lovely. Having a memorial flower bed is a wonderful tribute to Angel Seney. ❤️

Have a wonderful weekend!

Squirrels and birds are entertainment for cats, even if they truly want to chase and eat them.

My goodness, nutty indeed! Those squirrels can be pretty entertaining though. Your flowers sure are pretty!

Precious...I say triple ditto to ""I will have no introoders in my catio"!!! The look on your face spoke volumes.
Tree rats and bunnies in the yard are cute til they aren't.
Our deck was powered washed on Monday. We had to move all our freshly planted pots off the deck. Dag blasted bunnies feasted on our very pretty new Pansie. Of course pansies aren't very expensive...just very happy they didn't seem to like the new Ajuga. I love the Astilbe...it is new to me

Precious you try hard to keep your catio all to yourself but those squirrel critters are super smart and wriggle into spots we don't even think of.
Here they also live off bird food that I put on the ground and on the oak tree stump—dining table.
You are quite a body compared to our less than 8 pound girls!
Ours are more Asian cats I guess and their Mamita was oh so svelte.
Hugs,

We don't have squirrels here in New Zealand so I would have been most fascinated dear Precious ... & Pippi, Blackie & Little One would've also been baffled by a squirrel! That astilbe is just beautiful Lynn ... I must make a note of that plant & see if I can get it here - I have heard of it before but it is stunning in flower. Wishing you both a wonderful weekend with no further introoooders (!!) xx

Yikes! I hope the baby squirrel found its way home. Too young to be out unsupervised.

That must have been quite a fright to hear those unexpected noises, Precious. The Astilbe is lovely.

OOOoooOOooooo Squirrels! Kozmo and Marvelous are chasing them all the time, sometimes they catch one and what is left over the crows eat. I, Jo Jo have been trying to catch one so I can bring it in the house, I got one onto the back deck, but our human brother Alex, stopped me before I could get it in the house (alive of course) and it ran like the wind! Thanks for stopping by Marv's Blog! Keep being awesome! Your bestie Jo Jo (and Marv and Kozmo, and Cinnamon, and Dolly, and Mom)

Baby squirrels can get into mischief as quickly as baby people, or kittens. I hope this one learned a lesson and teaches the others.

Your flowers are a delight to see.

Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday!

Boy, I have only had something like that...not as bad as your squirrel was, at my door. Just once, and I will be glad not to have to be startled by that again. Claws quickly leaving the lap or chest are no fun, either.

Why your patio is so beautiful! No wonder it attracts the little beasties. I think the baby squirrel was looking for some food, though.

Hi Precious! When Angel Momo and Pinot lived in a house, mama squirrel started coming to our kitchen blinds to be fed and eventually destroyed a big blind! They're cute but strong!

Well, Precious, it's good that you're such an attentive watch cat. Gotta keep them introoders at bay! The neighborhood baby bunny frequents our patio.
