Guarding the plants

"Lynn, I'll just sit here a bit and see if the deer come to eat your

plants."

"If they come up to the winder, I'll growl real loud.
That oughta do the trick."

Here's one eating my dogwood tree.

Second yearling.

Mom watching me watch them.

"Leg time is over and your bed time is coming up, Lynn.
So I'll sit here until I get my bedtime treat."

Precious, you do a great job looking out for the flowers.
However, those hungry deer really aren't too worried
about you growling through the glass.  And in the dark,
they can't really see you for the dark grey onesie.

I plant deer "resistant" plants, but one or more always
has to make sure they don't like what they bite off.
I find flowers lying about on the ground and short
plants after the herd goes thru.

Note to self:
Do not use Miracle Grow fertilizer on catnip.

The reason I leave it bloom is for the bumble bees,
to whom I hold no grudge. And the Gold Finch
love the seed.  But I'll pay the price in the
Spring when I have to weed out baby plants.

I had to use the Bug Bite Thing again.  This time
to suck out juice from a deer tick.
The tick was attached to my ankle for maybe
a few hours.  It had fattened up some. So far the
bite area looks clear,  so I am hopeful that I
do not have Lyme Disease.  New tool and had
to use it 2 times!

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and a comment.
It is much appreciated.

The deer are beautiful, even though they prune your plants for you!
Good job, Precious.

I love seeing the deer. Precious, you are a great guard kitty, don't let your human mom tell you otherwise. :-)

Do you feed the deer in winter? I know someone who does, because winters are so hard and so long, but I'm not sure it's the best thing to do for wildlife. That might be why (in part) she has a lot of coyotes around!

I laughed at your note to self! I've never seen catnip so huge. LOL. Well, at least we know Miracle Grow really is a miracle!

I'm glad your bug bite thing is working, though, ewwww to the tick. Our city has the third highest rate of Lyme disease in Ontario now, which is why I don't go tromping through the brush anywhere now.

Take care and have a lovely weekend!

We like seeing the deer too. We get some deer visiting every once in a while but not often. Those ticks are pretty evil little buggers.

Dearest Lynn and Precious,
Here the deer must have knocked down the big saucer from the stand of the bird bath... No chips but too heavy to lift it back up. The yard crew had to do that.
It is fun to watch or guard wild life in our yards but it sure is also lots of work.
Hugs,
Mariette

Gosh that tool is a wonder. I DID get Lyme here about 10 yers ago. Caught it when the bulls eye showed after about a week after I was crawling in bushes to get extreme close up bee pictures. Dr. recognized it right away, showed me the paper he had written on it. Gave me a month worth of special antibiotic and I escaped the bad effects. I will have to look into that tool.

Ticks sure like you! I don't think you're scary, Precious MOL

Precious, it's lovely of you to want to protect the plants, but I really think you'd have to chase the deer and that wouldn't be safe.

I do hope there's no Lyme going on.

Thank you for joining Feline Friday!

I think my Mr would think its wonderful to have deer in your back section .... tho I don't think I would if they were eating my plants & shrubs. That catnip looks amazing Lynn. Do you dry some of it for Precious I wonder. I have read alot online about ticks over there & how nasty they can be. I hope you recover okay - its lucky you have your bug bite thingy. Enjoy the weekend x0x

I would have thought Precious's growl would keep the deer away. As for the bug bites, it's a good thing you have that new tool, but it'd be better if you needn't use it.

I think you need to growl louder, Precious! Hope the tick bite is okay. The nip is very impressive!

Precious, that was furry good of you to snoopervise the garden and look out for your Mom's plants.
We had no idea deer could be such a source of danger. We keep imagining them as these cute little Bambis!

Ticks are such awful critters and, unlike dogs, we humans cannot wear those handy preventive collars!

Thanks for stopping by on the blog hop today. 🙂 Clearly them deer need a louder growl, and maybe even a firm paw to chase them off. Paws crossed your staff team hasn't got anything bad from that tick!

It sure was worth your while to keep looking out your window. What a fantastic surprise to see a little deer in your yard! Good thing it couldn't see you in your secret spot by the window.

oh no!! Just saw about the deer tick! Hoping you are ok! Maybe go to the doctor just to be sure?

At our house the deer think hibiscus is candy. We have to keep the plants inside our catio. The plants on the outside are nibbled all gone.
