Cat foods and prices

"Lynn, please do not cut off my supply of meals!  I know I am

an expensive kitty to feed."

Not to worry Precious. I will continue to buy your
brand of crunchies.  However, I was going to tell
folks about the price.  I am sure they are going
through the exact thing as us.

I started Precious on Purina One dry food in
January of 2020.  It has helped her drop 2 pounds and
as of now, keep it off.  So I don't want to change a thing.

When I started it, it was so much less expensive than
the many different levels of prescription cat food
we had to try and fail on weight loss.  It was only $7.00
for a 3 pound bag instead of $15.
Then covid and pandemic and the lack of cat food.
It has been hard to find some times, but I keep at least
3 if not 4 bags in reserve.
The price has slowly gone up to $11 one month ago.
It is now $13 this week at the grocery.
I can only guess how the prescription food has gone up.

And when I was at the grocery, I found this new cat food.

"Lynn, isn't this the woman who used to croon tunes and
married the wacky Garth Brooks?   She knows how
to cook cat food now?"

I guess so Precious.  And no, you do not get to try the
stuff out, no matter the price.  You know canned food,
even if it is in an "apple juice" style box, it is still
soft and messes with your innards.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and a comment.
It is much appreciate.

The prices on pet food, along with human stuff, are just outrageous. Between our 6 and the 14 ferals we feed we spend $400-$500 a week. I'm not sure what else to do since we love all of our furries.

The cost of living keeps on rising - very worrying for many people.

Dearest Lynn,
Sadly everything is higher in price for human foods and for our kitties.
We got five to feed and it really shows.

Prices have gone through the roof over here too Lynn. The individual tins I buy for my two were 80cents & are now $1.40 each! Thats a big hike in price. Precious - you have the sweetest little face. Happy Weekend to you both. I've been up early cleaning windows - think I need a little rest now xx

Don't worry Precious, your mom won't let you go hungry. The price of everything is going up so fast and not just by pennies!

I haven't seen this brand. It irks me when someone tries to sell something they are no expert in- she should stick to the singing. :) XO

The price of everything nowadays is infuriating. Mudpie eats Purina One True Nature.

Ridiculous - criminal - price increases. Inflation has gone up, I am told, fourteen per cent, at most. Yet prices go up fifty to a hundred per cent. Some one is getting rich off of people who are getting poorer. I don't have a lot of money, but I'm doing all right (so far). What about people who are genuinely poor?

Yes, the cost of our food, much like just about everything else, is rising like crazy. My mom and dad are thankful that I don't need a prescription diet just yet like my predecessor did, but I am getting up there, so fingers crossed it stays this way for a bit.

Effurrything is so expensive these days!
We are just trying out a new brand of renal diet cat food. We don't care for it all that much, although Shimshi will eat practically anything. Trixie doesn't like it at all! Mummy says next time, We will go back to Royal Canin.

Prices for cat (and dog) food have gone up a lot in Europe as well. #1 spends a lot of time trawling through sites to find the best food at the best price for all of us. There's also a store that sells end of line and discontinued ranges that sometimes has great offers. She recently bought us some premium pâté type food there at one third of the average in-store price!

A can of Fancy Feast was 69 cents, went to 79, 89 and now is a dollar at the minimum. Her dry food, Hills Science Diet...through the roof as well. And I just have Katie. I read Brian's comment and that is breathtaking. I will bet that his prices have gone up a hundred percent. I can afford it, but it has a huge impact on my budget. The cost of food for we two ladies is scary.

Oh my!! Trisha Yearwood has CAT FOOD????????? Hmmm...I don't know about that one!! We feel your pain! Cat food, dog food, human food, everything has gone up! In some cases the items are the same price (human food), but they sneakily reduced the QUANTITY and you don't realize it until you open it! Sending lots of love to you and your Mom Precious!! So happy we met you! xoxo
