Downtown, everything's waiting for you

 "Petula Clark got in Lynn's head and she went Downtown, where the lights are much brighter there.  So now is evfurry one got this tune spinning in their head?  She's done it agin."

"She says she gonna go to the bank, the post office, 

the library and such.  Our little city has not much else."

I thought I'd share a tour of our city.  This is the courthouse as we are

the county capital.  I was called to jury duty but not chosen once.  The

inside is incredible but no one is allowed in without an appointment.

The top of the cupola from the massive 4 sided clock up was just

replaced.  It took 2 years to rebuild and have a new clock.

One of our several elaborate churches.

 

This is the Masonic Hall and it sits on the east side of

our square.

The flower shop always decorates the deep entryway in.

Not a lot of shops in town.  The book store and the bike shop are in the building on

the left.  The other side of the street has a couple restaurants and small stores.

Most multi story buildings have been renovated and taken over 

by the 3 colleges in our city and the community hospital.  

The good thing is these buildings are not just sitting empty forever.

These two are connected.  The peach color building is a fun gift shop of

knick knacks.  The other building has seen many stores come and go.  On 

the north side of the square are a couple small shops.  

Nice place to take a walk when it is too cold or windy to be

outside for long.

The statue is on the square.  It's a one way drive around

with lots of parking.  There is a small tiered fountain and

a Memory Wall for fallen veterans.

"And Lynn made it home in time fur me to have my

brunch and Greenies.  And she quit humming thank goodness."

My own tea towel

 "As you may already know,  I hafta take a pill evfurry day fur my allergic ears.  Sos I don't scratch 'em off my head any more."

"I git my licky stick stuff on a saucer with the 

pill crushed up sos I don't know it is there."

"Lynn gave me a very lovely old tea towel.  She says the kind

no one sells anymore.  Something about 100% cotton, made in

the USA.  I just know that I sit on it when it is time to have

my "treat".  Of course some kitties are not allowed on the

eating area,  but Lynn says she's nevfur had a reason fur

us kitties to stay off the counter."

"I'm not havin' great catio times.  It is always wet 

and windy and cold fur too many weeks.  But I do

go out while it is still a bit dark.  Seems daylight

is comin' sooner,  just not sunlight."

These are photos of Newark, Ohio where the glass museum is.

The court house is just like a castle. You can see the gold leaf

on the cupola and the statues of Justice.

I'm always amazed at murals.  This town has so many, but

in the blocks I walked I only got the 2 photos.

"Lynn 'splained to me that this was the original Jail House back in

the day.  I thought maybe she oughta be locked up fur leaving me."

Outside Company

 "I was out one morn in the dark when a neighbor kitty stopped by fur a word with me."

"We touched noses for a moment and passed on impawtant

information to each other. One minute of  nose bops says more than a 

thousand words.

 This kitty belongs to a home just down

the road a bit but spends far too much time outside.  This is

the first we have made real contact as I normally am asleep in

the daytime when he comes by." 

"We do not know his name.  But he was

so polite to me.  Old Blackie always hisses at 

me nowadays.  It was nice to see a furiendly fur face.

But I know good and well this one also attacks my

nippy plant! Now it is bigger and has the fence,

but they are eating the top leaves they can reach!"

"As soon as kitty left and it got a bit lighter I had 

another visitor.  This one just trundled past and had only

a few words to say.  "I gotta git to bed afore the sun

finds me."  It was Mr. O'Possum on his way home 

furom a night out."

Catio time

 "I wanted to tell evfurry one about my time outside lately."

"In the morns,  Lynn helps me zip up my grey onesie

and tries to pull the hood up over my ears."

"It's been frosty a few morns in the o'dark thirty but

I wanna go out then.  When I come in my ears are cold

and my furs are frosty. One mornin' I think I had

icicles drippin' offa my whiskers."

"I have my thick pink rug fur laying on.  Lynn

says we are still waitin' fur warm Spring to come

and stay.  But the weather gurl is already braggin'

about Summer on June 20!"

It's been up and down weather this Spring.  Hoping that

soon it'll just stay up.  Trees are leafing out finally.

Here are a few flowers I have finally enjoyed in my

own flower beds.

Heisey Glass Museum

 "Well, you can guess that Lynn went off on another one of her jaunts and without me.  But I would nevfur evfur wanna leave my house."

"So off she went one morn and I waited it out safely."

Heisey Glass Company was in business from 1869 until 1957.

The collection at the museum is mostly gifted from collections and there

are thousands of pieces to view.

The building is so beautiful that I wanted to show a bit of 

the inside.

The fee is just $5.00 and you can browse for as long as you wish.

It is 3 stories up and then the basement has a bit of old 

enlarged photos of the factory while working in the 1800's.

As always,  I am glad to finally be home.  This was not that

far away.  In Newark, Ohio.

"As soon as I got my late brunch,  I settled in fur a wonderful

bit of sun and brushing.  All is right now in cat world."

Hopping into Easter

 "I'm waitin' fur the Easter Bunny to bring me some treats.  And I don't mean jelly beans!"

"I've been gittin' some sunpuddle and sharing it with the

Rabbit family.  I've told mama rabbit I want some real cat treats.

She can give all that candy stuff to some hooman."

"I don't think the Easter Bunny comes down a chimney,

but we don't have one anyway.  I guess I'll leave a door open

and hope it hops in."
