You have started with the leaving me!

"Lynn, winter is not over!  How could you take off fur the whole day and leave me to sleep it away!

"Do you not feel guilty?"

Believe me Precious, I was not expecting a dry and
sunny day with 70 F temps!
So I did take off for a drive to ride a new path to me,
about 50 miles away.
It is along the Muskingum River that flows into the
Ohio, which flows into the mighty Mississippi.

The lock no longer works as you may see the
gates are whopper jawed.  On the up river side
they have piled a wall of huge rip rap to
try and save the lock from washing away over time.

Boats can no longer navigate up and down this river
as all the locks are out of use.  Most of the river
sections between dams is about 10 miles or more.
In between dams, you can put your boat in though.
The rail road bridge in the above photo
is now part of this 10 mile paved path.
It was fun to be on the bridge looking down on
the river.

This small paddle wheeler is from the early 1970's and they keep
it afloat and offer short river cruises between 2 dams.  It's been
decades since I have seen it and rode on it.

"It is just a furry good thing you got home before it
was my supper time.  As it was, I had my brunch at 3:30
instead of 1:30!  I thought I'd starve to death by then."

I think we made up for it just fine Precious.
Now with rain coming and a 30 degree drop in temps
it will not be bike riding for me for quite a while.

"Lynn, don't you always say these mini daffs
"multiply like rabbits"?  Why don't you take
pictures of rabbits?"

I would if I could see them.  Instead our first signs of
Spring in our yard is hundreds of these daffodils.
Which I am tired of thinning and planting elsewhere.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit and a comment.
It is much appreciated.

  1. HaHa! Never mind Precious...Mum never opainted
a very story of her trip, and anyway, who wants to
see an 'old' pair of lock gates..or that 'old' bridge....
Though the paddle steamer looks nice...
    (and l hate daffodils)...! :(

And don't worry Precious, Mum won't let you starve
to death...You have a nice weekend now...
I got up an hour ago at 7.20...Breakfast, second mug
of green tea, with honey and lemon, and the suns out
in all it's glory, so l may be able to out back later and
trim the Virginia Creeper....Things to do...! :).

  2. Well, Precious, it was very nice for Lynn to get out for a ride in unexpectedly good weather. She has to make the most of these opportunities. Late brunch is good - you appreciate it even more!

  3. I can only imagine how fantastic it felt to go on that bike ride, Lynn! You're brave to stand on the bridge and look down to boot. Bridges scare me, as do heights, I get vertigo.

Precious, it seems to survived just fine! Soon you'll be able to get out onto your catio and enjoy the spring temps (when they return)!

Have a lovely weekend, both of you. πŸ™‚

  4. You know, Precious, I'd see nothing wrong with my mom and dad taking off for the whole day and leaving me to sleep it away. I'm sure they're not the only cat lovers who do this, but whenever they do go somewhere, they put words in my mouth and make me say funny things on their return, things like "oh, you were gone?" or "I didn't even know you left".

  5. Precious, you haven't trained your human well enough, to know to be at the ready for your nutritional needs at any moment, despite the wonderfully warm day.

  7. MOL MOL MOL Precious Mom 100% made 'hay' while the sun was shining. What a lovely area for a surprisingly lovely day in oHIo!
Will there be revenge or demertis issued for a late brunch?
Hugs and thinks for the beautiful photos.

  8. Java Bean: "Ayyy, that looks like a good outing! And that clump of daffodils would definitely get my attention if I were out there, if you know what I mean!"
Lulu: "We ALWAYS know what you mean."

  11. Precious! I feel the same exact way every time my mom leaves and is gone till mid afternoon. WHO is going to love on me and snuggle me and see that I am comfortable if not her, I ask you? Who will give me treats? I love your pop up daffodils. My mom hasn't been out to plant more for a long time and she should!! I am so glad your Mom got to take the ride to a place she'd love to bike. You try to be glad too. She needs some recreation.

  12. You do not look especially impressed there sweet Precious - your face looks a bit "not amused" ... but I cannot see your ribs sticking out so I don't think it mattered that your brunch didn't arrive til 3.30!!! Its good that Mum got to go out for a ride in some nice weather. Definately spring is just around the corner when I see the daffs poking through - just love their sunshiney colours. Enjoy the weekend both of you x0x

  13. That looked a lovely place for your mom to go for a ride. Brunch might have been late, but at least dinner was on time.

  15. Dearest Lynn and Precious,
Oh you poor kitty... we had to leave our 3 kitties by themselves for one night and they had their friendly cat–sitter come feed them supper and breakfast next day.
How I would enjoy biking—if I only could! Not yet there with my barely 100 pounds and low walking steadiness... Need to gain and strengthen my leg muscles! But I'm getting there!!!
Big hugs and thanks for the informative photos.

  16. Precious, I'm sure your mama wouldn't leave you for long, and just part of the day is not long.

I'm glad she had a good bike ride. That looks like a nice paddle boat to take as a lazy afternoon tour.

Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday!

  17. Oh Precious, the humans need to be aired out from time to time, and we have to be generous with them! Ours keeps going away, but we know she will return, and bring treats!

  18. Precious, you have to let humans out for some fresh air for a couple of hours at least twice a year (mol). Well - maybe a bit more often. And wouldn't you rather have a nice long nap, anyway? We know WE would.

  19. What splendid weather to go bicycling in; real spring weather. It's a shame about the canal's locks. They need to be repaired. But I guess that would mean operating them, and that might cost too much on a continuing basis. They should at least remove the broken lock gates.

  21. Oh Precious - I wish you and my Big Boy and Little Girl could "commiserate" together! We'd get quite a tongue-lashing from the three of you! Your bike ride was beautiful and very wise of you to get out on the nice day - you've got to take advantage of the beautiful days when you have them! Spring will come, but winter will take its time leaving, lol!
